Now, you have to understand–I never win anything. Ever.
I once came close to winning a jackpot at Bingo (the only time I’ve ever gone). It was blackout (where you have to cover the whole card), and the jackpot was something like $300 or $600, I can’t remember.
You can see where this is going. If I’d have won, I would remember the jackpot size. I was close…I had one square left to fill. As the caller kept shouting numbers, my hands started to shake so much that I risked messing up my whole card if I allowed myself to touch it. My heart pounded so hard that my ribcage ached, and my breath came in short little gasps. I was going to win something!
And then someone called Bingo.
Went to the Seneca Nation casino with my mom and her friend. I was out $20 (all the cash I allowed myself to bring) within half an hour.
I. Don’t. Win.
So, I entered all my info for this book giveaway thing, knowing that I couldn’t possibly win even if I was the only entrant.
Whaddaya know, I won a book. It was very exciting for me, you have to understand. I won something!
I didn’t enter for a couple weeks, feeling that I should give others a chance. Then I got an email reminding me to enter, and thought…hey, what the hell.
Yeah. I won again!
I’m loving this. I get free books, and…I get to feel like a WINNER.
That, to me, is a win-win situation.
The books I won:
Book 1: The Love Season by Elin Hilderbrand (Tried finding her website to link to it, but no luck. But awesomeness! Just discovered she’s a PA native. Woot! Evidently from around Philly somewhere).
Book 2: Sweet Swan of Avon: Did a Woman Write Shakespeare? by Robin P. Williams
I might just keep on doing this. After winning two whole books, though, I couldn’t justify keeping it to myself. Go! Enter! Win! (Can you tell I was only a cheerleader for one year in junior high?)
